Florø (1997)

The photographs are from the port areas of the artist’s hometown, the place she grew up. This harbor is a place of transit for both local and global trade. Such places are often described as non-places; container harbours often look similar since they are influenced visually by the logos of the international freight companies. At the same time, though, these areas have a local character and local names, and they are a part of the specific topography. In Hansen’s pictures, the containers and the asphalt constitute the main motif; the landscape is seen at a distance.
